Diving deeper
Hello All,
My name is Charlene. I hear a lot about how my name sounds southern and oddly enough my personality matches it. Although I was born and raised right here in Boston, MA, I often feel my heart resides somewhere else. I’ve spent a good amount of time away from school, 8 years to be exact. It’s been quite the journey of trials and tribulations and immense learning and growing situations of the opposite side of the spectrum. Now that I am in a different place in life and in search of a deeper me and what I am actually capable of I made what is a huge decision for me, to go back to school. Coming from a family who doesn’t really believe in school or have an understanding of it, I’m excited to show a whole different realm of life, and learning, and share my knowledge and show my son that there is a whole part of life to experience through school. How to work hard to get where you want to be and not letting ANYTHING stop you. No situation, no person, no thoughts. I’m so excited to see where this new journey will take me, what doors will open not only physically but also mentally.
I got pregnant at 18, so while most of my friends went off to college I was starting a family. I had no idea of what was ahead of me. The struggles I was going to face or lessons I would learn or how it would over all effect my personality and create defense mechanisms. It took me a couple of years to stop asking why and to have understanding that the person I had become was who I was suppose to be. I became more aware of people and of situations. I had a mindset of now letting things go and not keeping them bottled up. To let go of grudges and hand out forgiveness.
I’ve always loved writing. It started when I was a little girl and my father had moved to California. Something in me told me to write about my feelings in a way I didn’t understand at the time. Since then I’ve always put my emotions on paper because you know for a fact that papers not going to talk back to you and you’re not going to hurt it’s feelings. It’s a way to see your thoughts clearly, without them scattered around your brain. I often escape in music, yano I must have drove my mom crazy when I was younger constantly blaring music but luckily enough she allowed. And to this day I am still constantly in search of new music and new feelings. Listening to the lyrics or how the rhythm changes to alter your mood, to grasp the connection of the listener and producer.
You could say I’m a spiritual person, I’m always looking to grow. I’m interested in books such as, The Power of Positive thinking, Laws of Success, etc. I like thinking of having power over your mind and your life. I try to display that to people around me but not everyone has the same idea. With that being said I try to surround myself with like minded people, therefore very excited to be in this class and work together with y’all.

Charlene,
ReplyDeleteExcellent first post. You have great writing skills. You crafted an interesting post about yourself that expresses details, personality, and some of your personal experiences. Your writing style is very easy to follow. It's entertaining and insightful.
Skillful.
Welcome to the course. I think that you will fit right in. I already appreciate all the comments you made to other students on the discussion boards. That shows great cooperation and motivation.
This post is very well written and it gives good sense of who you are.
My suggestion for next week: add more images. Try to have at least 3 per post. Place one at the top, like a banner image, just below your title. Spread some others around your post so that there is supportive images for your content and a sense of text/image balance. Think of magazines and websites that you like - in terms of design.
For the first one, this is well done. I look forward to reading more as we continue.
